How to Choose the Right Shed Size

Most shed regret comes from buying too small. This guide walks you through sizing by stuff, sizing by use, and the dimensions our customers re-buy the most.

Start with what's going inside

Inventory your gear: mower (3×6 ft), snowblower (3×6), bikes, tools, deck furniture. Add 30% for walking room and shelving. Most one-car-garage replacements land at 10×16 to 12×20.

Match the dimensions to the doors

A 6-ft double door fits riding mowers and ATVs. A 9×7 overhead door fits trucks and tractors. If you're storing wheels, plan the door before the floor.

Add a loft for free square footage

Lofted barns give you 30–40% extra storage overhead — perfect for holiday bins, fishing gear, and the kayak you forgot you owned.
